November 05, 2009 The Karnataka government has offered 1,000 acres of land to a Japanese trade body to set up an eco-friendly industrial park in Tumkur, about 60 km from Bangalore.
A joint monitoring committee of Japanese External Trade Organisation (JETRO) and state government officers would soon be set up to finalise and pursue the project, chief minister B S Yeddyurappa said after meeting JETRO senior director Daisuke Macsushima.
The CM said Japanese delegation had shown interest in setting up bullet train network in Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore route, apart from developing an eco-friendly township and industrial parks, he said.
Other projects include water supply and recycling system, commuter train network and infrastructure, said Yeddyurappa.
The state wants JETRO to extend the industrial corridor to Hubli and Belgaum, he said. Macsushima described Bangalore as “a major industrial hub and a best city to live in India”.
